What is "LOVE: My Anti-Fear"?

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear. -I John 4:18        

Fear is everywhere. We are afraid of making mistakes, afraid of being hurt or rejected, afraid of being alone. Fear controls us and holds us back from living the way we were meant to. The Bible says that "perfect love casts out fear". Somehow, somewhere there is love strong enough to overcome this fear.

So where does one find this love? How can any human muster up enough love to overcome fear? The answer is: he can't. This love comes only from God. I John 4:16 says that "God is love, and he that abides in love abides in God, and God in him." God is the only source of love. If you want to know love, you must first know God.

What does perfect love look like? God gave us the example: "But God commends His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) Perfect love cares nothing of itself, nor does it care how 'loveable' a person is. We love others, because He first loved us.

"...you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 12:30-31)
